Bollards to Hong Kong

British highway traffic bollard manufacturer Leafield Environmental has won a contract to supply its Night Owl, retroreflective bounce-back, sign bollards to the Hong Kong Transport Authority through its Kowloon based distributor.

Despite having one of the most highly developed and sophisticated transport systems in the World, Hong Kong, when compared to the UK, has over three times as many private cars per kilometre of road. Add to this five registered bus companies, an Armada of minibus fleets and some 18 thousand taxis and you have a recipe for congestion, scrapes and minor collisions.

In an attempt to eliminate the cost of bollard replacement and reduce vehicle damage caused by collisions with highway bollards, the Hong Kong Transport Authority has evaluated the all-plastic Night Owl and is now undertaking large-scale dynamic trials.

Meeting BS 8442:2006, the standard for Retro Reflective Self Righting Bollards, Night Owl is also passively safe, exceeding the requirements of Performance Standard 100/NE4 of BS EN 12767:2000, passive safety of support structures for road equipment.

The 300mm diameter circular sign panels are guaranteed for 10 years and can be mounted both front and rear if necessary. Large retroreflective, front and rear conspicuity panels are supplemented by side conspicuity panels of the same material for enhanced visibility.

With outstanding design aesthetics to match its outstanding performance and exceptional durability, the Night Owl is easily sited by surface mounting or with pre-installed in-ground anchors.

The initial order for 210 units was completed and dispatched within ten days to meet the tight delivery schedule.
